1909: farmer 1903 Daniel Snr farmer, Daniel Jnr labourer, James labourer, John labourer and Thomas labourer all lived together at Salt Pans Road. They were on the Electoral Rolls in Coleraine. In 1905 living at the large weather board house on Salt Pans Rd were Daniel Snr (farmer), John, James, Margaret, Patrick and Thomas. (Daniel Junior was a blacksmith in Coleraine). They were on the Electoral Rolls in Coleraine. 1906 Daniel (Snr) farmer, James (labourer), John (labourer), Patrick (labourer), Thomas (labourer) Salt Pans Rd, Daniel (blacksmith) and Catherine Kane Coleraine. · Daniel Kane probably came to Coleraine because Johanna O’Donnell’s brother T. O’Donnell had taken up the present property in Church St. where Dolly lived in August 1862. Daniel Kane then bought it from him in 1870. Also, Johanna had a brother Patrick who was at the wedding in 1870.
· Daniel Kane was a carrier at Mt. Cole from 1868-1870, then in 1870 he was labourer in Coleraine till 1872 and then 1875 he was a carrier again. From 1884 he was a contractor building bridges etc.

Dolly Kane told me she was afraid of Daniel Kane (died 1909) I remember her at the times screwing up her face and turning away which seems to indicate he was a severe man. When Daniel Kane died in 1909 Dolly was 12 years old. |
