Born March 14th 1881 In 1905 living at the large weather board house on Salt Pans Rd were Daniel Snr (farmer), John, James, Margaret, Patrick and Thomas. (Daniel Junior was a blacksmith in Coleraine). They were on the Electoral Rolls in Coleraine. 1906 Daniel (Snr) farmer, James (labourer), John (labourer), Patrick (labourer), Thomas (labourer) Salt Pans Rd, Daniel (blacksmith) and Catherine Kane Coleraine. In the short space of 18 years the Kane family of 8 members residing at Salt Pans Rd in a large weatherboard house was reduced to 3 (Tom, Daniel and Ned). Yesterday morning an old family of the district suffered a reduction of its members when Patrick, 5th son of Mr. Daniel Kane, of Salt Pans Rd. succumbed to a complaint (T.B.) from which he had suffered for a considerable time. Early in the year Mr. Patrick Kane spent 3 months in a sanatorium during which time he showed improvement. Those who knew him easily recognized the traces of the invalid. Last Thursday he was in Coleraine and called on his brother Daniel, remarking on leaving that he might call again on Saturday if he felt well enough. He passed away 3:00 Sunday morning
