NCLB Hi everyone, "NCLB" In 2001 the US Government released the federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) which requires every State to notify the public of the performance of its schools and school districts via a state report card. The report card evaluates attendance rates and student math and reading achievements. It lets the school personnel and the public knw how their schools are performing. Beginning in 2002 - 2003 students in grade 3,8 and 11 take the tests. It is reported back as below basic, basic, proficient and advanced. In this State 71% were proficient or advanced in reading and 59% were proficient or advanced in math (its math here and not maths). Under (NCLB) all public school must be proficient in math and reading by 2014 or else the school is faced with the prospect of closure. Each school must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 94% and a graduation rate of 90%. Schools not maintaining these rates will be put on an alert status. Schools or districts that don't meet the objectives for two consecutive years are identified for school improvement.

As you can imagine, this puts great stress on the schools that have poor or disadvantaged students. Crow Creek is in good shape and after one more year will not need to be inspected for the time being. Regards, BK
