I don't know
how many times I've made this over the last 25 years but its always a
winner! It keeps well and doesn't dry out like lots of cakes due to
the pumpkin
METHOD

Cream butter
and sugar together
-
Add vanilla
essence and cream a bit more

Add eggs and
mix
-
Add fruit
and pumpkin together

Add sifted
flour and stir
-
Add extra
cherries if you want to

Grease your
cake tin as usual
-
Bake 180
degrees for 45 minutes
-
The aroma
will be so good you'll want the first slice then and there with a cuppa
