Homecoming

Hi everyone,

We had a parent teacher night at the elementary gym in Fort Thompson - most enjoyable and lots of great food.

This week has been homecoming week with heaps of fun activities.  Homecoming also involves the return of former students to share in the week of events.  The students wore their pyjamas to school on Tuesday, cross dressed on Wednesday, dressed as hippies on the Thursday and the school colours of red and black on Friday.

Friday was homecoming day.  The students were bused to Fort Thompson about 11 miles away.  We listened to a guest speaker, lots of fun stuff for the students and a float parade through the town before lunch.

After lunch we attended the school football game between the home team the Crow Creek Chieftains and Pine Ridge.  Unfortunately, the Chieftains lost 24 - 20.

In the evening there was a homecoming dance in the gym.  An 18 wheeler brought in the all the lights, huge speakers and a giant screen to show the music videos.  The dance went from 8 pm till midnight.  It was easy to supervise, because once the students come into the gym, they can't leave till the gig is over - called the 'lock down".   We actually enjoyed ourselves once we erased from our minds that we were listening to rap.

Hunting begins today.  There are quite a few hunters in the surrounding area - mostly after pheasant.

Regards,

BK
