Hail

It came from no where.  First thunder and lightening.  Darker and more menacing clouds.  Then hail, some as big as golf balls hammering the house in a barrage of noise.  Just like a thousand people had all teed off together and lobbed their shots on to our house and surrounding lawn areas.  We peered out of the windows to see the amazing sight of thousands of 'ping pong' like hail continually bouncing everywhere.  Three window panes smashed and the car was taking a belting.  Not safe to put it away because apparently people have been hit in the head and killed by hail stones.  Eventually, after 15 minutes it subsides and Kate gives me a frying pan to protect my 'scone' in case the hail resumes so I can put the car away.  In the pandemonium I forget to close our bedroom window.  The hail pops heaps of holes in the screen mesh like giant woodpeckers at work and hail bounces all over our bed.  Now, half an hour later and all is quiet, the sun is shining and the birds resume singing; those who didn't get bombed out out their trees!  I've heard about this happening  at various times but never seen it myself.        Two school days to go!!
