My birthday today. But alas - Kate and I have tummy upsets: so
its dry toast and water. You might think its the result of too
much of a good thing celebrating Thanksgiving but we got it from the
young-ins on Kate's farm. We did made it down there after all -
a 6 hour journey over 300 miles but we were able to break it
half way at
Kate's sisters place in Sioux Falls. The weather
was fantastic and the roads were fine. In fact the further
south we got, we actually saw green grass again and that unusual
sight - "dust". All the family gathered for
Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, ham and all the trimmings.
It is traditional in America to turn on the Christmas lights in
the evening.
Kate's brother in law has gone a little over the
top though. He turned on 30,000 lights to decorate his house
and garden. They call it kilowatt corner. We now
teach for 2 more weeks and then get a three week break for
Christmas - "a white Christmas". For once the carols
and songs will have their full meaning - sleigh bells, Frosty the
snowman etc.
All the best to everyone at SMC and happy Christmas. I hope
you've enjoyed getting the emails.
